The elaborate bevelled glass front doors and front hall window, the grand oak-paneled staircase; the vintage tin ceilings and lead crystal chandelier give you the feeling that you have just made a grand entrance. Large amounts of light and the open rooms beyond are simply awe inspiring. Halfway up the staircase there is a rare stained glass window. Frederick J. Skinner, a prominent Gananoque manufacturer, and politician, built Sleepy Hollow and his portrait hangs in the front entrance to greet you. The history of the house over time has seen it used as a Tourist home, a nursing home, apartments, and since 1999, a B&B. |
